GiveDirectly aims to reshape international giving -  and millions of lives - by allowing donors to provide capital grants directly to the world’s poorest.   The Brookings Institution estimates that 80B of cash transfers would be required to eliminate the poverty gap; the aid sector currently spends 140B each year, much of which is spent on evidence-free interventions.  We want to change that, establishing a benchmark as Vanguard did for the financial industry (i.e. index fund), and in the process accelerate the end of extreme poverty.

GiveDirectly has raised over 140M since launching in 2011 and has been celebrated as one of the most innovative non-profit companies by Fast Company.  The Guardian writes, “GiveDirectly…has sent shockwaves through the charity sector. While the New York Times Magazine adds, “The beautiful thing about GiveDirectly’s approach is that it lets people devise their own path out of poverty.” The growing movement toward cash transfers and GiveDirectly’s leading role in the movement have also been featured in This American Life, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist.

Role overview:

You will join a small & nimble team that is responsible for raising $30M in revenue and driving growth across our retail funnel. You will report to the Chief Growth Officer and own several functions: operations, analytics, and select acquisition-focused initiatives. You will both ensure that mission-critical processes are well-structured & run, and launch a number of experiments to fill the top of our donor funnel. The role will require embracing a “fail fast” ethos, while also being ruthlessly organized when systematization and careful analysis are in order.  


  • End-to-end ownership of projects to accelerate growth across multiple new donor segments (e.g. expanding our network of influencers, testing referral programs, running targeted campaigns)
  • Product management for initiatives that build the GD brand (e.g. app to enable instant giving)  and improve conversion (i.e. optimizing website check-out flow)
  • Ownership of donor analytics to inform team investments and decision-making (e.g. A/B testing content; managing core dashboards and one-off analyses)
  • Design and maintenance of systems for air-tight execution of recurring processes (i.e. donor feedback, email marketing etc.).
